This makes it one of the older writing services on the web, and we were interested to learn all that we could about this service. In order to provide our readers with an up to date and objective Best Essays review, we subjected the company to the same criteria as all companies we review. In order to gather the information we needed, we studied every page of its website, reviewed BestEssays.com testimonials, searched the web for comments and feedback from other customers, and ordered a college level research paper which we received and evaluated. All of these factors came to into play as we prepared this review.

Products and Services

Best Essays offers all standard academic writing, from high school through Ph.D. programs, as well as proofreading and editing, coursework assignments, admissions essays, and multiple-choice test-taking. While its landing page indicates that it also writes resumes, we could not find that on the order form nor any more details anywhere else on the site. We also did not find any evidence that business writing or copywriting services were offered. It appears that Best Essays prefers to stay only with the academic realm.

Trustworthiness

Several factors are assessed when determining the trustworthiness of a writing service:

• Ability of customers to speak directly with the company via telephone and other means. Best Essays does offer this.
• Ability of customers to speak directly with their writers. Best Essays does provide this through a messaging system on each customers personal account page.
• Meeting deadlines. BestEssays customer reviews as well as our own experience indicate that deadlines are consistently met.
• Confidentiality, revisions, and plagiarism-free policies and guarantees. These are present on the Best Essays website
• Security of payment processes. This has been achieved, and customers can feel confident using any major credit card or wire transfer.

We can attest to the fact that BestEssays.com is not a fraud or scam.

Writing Quality/Writer Expertise

Relative to writing quality, we were able to read a sample essay, term paper, and research paper on the site. While formats were correct, we did see some obvious issues that were cause for concern. Content was often redundant and structural organization, especially the establishment of theses was unclear and occasionally lacked coherency. Incorrect word sage (e.g., there, their) was also present. We find this concerning because the company states that all completed writing is reviewed by an editor before delivery. We found examples of incorrect word usage, along with other sentence structure errors n the paper we ordered as well.

Writer Expertise

Best Essays states that all of its writer possess either a Master’s or a Ph.D. and only write in their content fields. There was a lengthy explanation of how writers are selected and the period of probation which they pass through before they are allowed to assume more difficult and complex assignments.  Obviously, there is no way to check this, so we take the company at its word. Given some of the issues of quality we found in the writing, however, we believe that some writers at least could use some professional development in the area of scholarly writing.

Pricing and Discounts

Best Essays prices are higher than average. An essay, whether for high school or a graduate student, begins at $21.99/page with a 10-day deadline. Prices range upward to $60.99 for graduate level work performed by the highest quality writer. Pricing is based upon three levels of quality – standard, premium, and platinum, and we find it odd that a high school student and a Ph.D. candidate pay the same amount per page when the demands are so vastly different. Our paper, 8 pages with a deadline of 7 days, was priced at $183.92.

BestEssays discounts are published on a separate link. Customers are provided a 5% discount for the first 50 pages, 10% for accumulated pages of 51-100, and a 15% discount for accumulated pages over 100. While it is not clear how customers obtain these discounts, we are assuming that Best Essay coupon codes are provided for them, because there is a place on the order form to enter discount codes. All new customer receive a 15% on their first orders, and there is a BestEssays.com promo code published on the site for this purpose.

Additional Features

The company offers the standard free pages and revisions. It states that is runs a plagiarism report on all writing, but then charges the customer $36.78 for that report. We believe this is very pricey. The company also states that all writing is reviewed and edited. However, on the order form page, customers are asked to pay $5.50 if they want their products edited. The other concern is that many links to valuable information result in blank pages, including FAQ, New Services, Our Services, and a few others. Perhaps the site is under construction.

Conclusion

As we look at BestEssays pros & cons, we do note that they are trustworthy and that there are no Best Essay BBB complaints on file.  We do have concerns, however, regarding quality of writing, the conflicting statements regarding free and fee-based services, and the number of blank pages. For these reasons we are assigning a BestEssays.com rating of “Fair.”
